In this article, we’re going to focus on different types of salon reports and how they can empower business owners to efficiently manage sales, transactions, client details, appointments, staff reports, financial integrations, payroll, taxes, and much more.
Sales Reports
Transaction Lists
Also referred to as a Discount Report, this allows you to run detailed reports on all sales at your business—in-house & online—and provides granular information on individual customer purchases, payment methods used, the deposit status of a credit card transaction, and more.
New vs Returning Customer
The New vs Returning Report provides information on how many new, or, you guessed it—returning—customers you’ve gained through Vagaro’s Get Featured function, Google integration, Instagram integration, and other platforms.
Customer List
This one allows you to see a detailed list of customer information. You can search filters to narrow the report, delete multiple customers at once, restore customers you’ve deleted in the past, and merge duplicate profiles.
Client Retention
This lets you track new and returning customer appointments at your business by appointment type or by employee (service provider). When you schedule a customer in-house, you must select an appointment type; however, online bookings are automatically assigned an appointment type based on whether they’ve been checked out at your business or if they selected a service provider.
Appointments
It provides a detailed list of the number of appointments you've had. You can view the total number of canceled, denied, deleted, no-show, completed, and pending appointments for your business.

Payroll History
This is one of the various salon staff reports that Vagaro offers. Efficiently handling payroll is a must for both solopreneurs and enterprise salons. The payroll history report shows you all the payroll periods you've submitted and closed out in the past for your salon staff. You can sort the report by year, by quarter (every three months), or by your chosen payroll frequency.
Financial Reports
Integrating your salon's financial data into your reports can simplify accounting and financial analysis. By linking your point-of-sale system, inventory management, and expenses, you can gain a comprehensive view of your financial health. This helps in budgeting, cost-cutting, and decision-making.
Tax Reporting
Tax season can be a stressful time for salon owners, but these salon reports can simplify the process. Generate detailed snapshots that include income, expenses, and tax liability reports to make filing a breeze. Plus, you can avoid costly penalties by staying compliant with all tax regulations.
Marketing Metrics
Effective marketing is essential for attracting and retaining clients. You need salon reports that can track the success of marketing campaigns by measuring metrics such as customer acquisition costs, return on investment (ROI), and client feedback. This data allows you to fine-tune your marketing strategies for better results.
