Meet Jasmine Holmes—the founder of Holmes of Beauty—a luxury hub for all things hair, beauty and aesthetics based in Bournemouth. As a qualified beauty therapist with expertise in an array of services from skincare treatments to lashes and nails, Jasmine founded Holmes of Beauty to bring a new salon concept to her local area. She was driven by her vision for creating an aesthetically pleasing beauty salon that provides customers with the convenience of experiencing all their favourite beauty and hair treatments under one roof. Since officially opening in October 2022, Holmes of Beauty has quickly become one of the most popular salons in Bournemouth thanks to its innovative beauty treatments, inclusive environment, and specialist staff.
As you step inside Holmes of Beauty, you will immediately feel a sense of tranquillity and relaxation thanks to the luxurious cool-toned décor inspired by the iconic Tiffany Blue.
“Previously, I have worked in a lot of salons where everything is pink and floral,” says Jasmine. “We wanted to be different and choose a look that is more unisex so that men also feel comfortable to come in and book our services. It’s more common now to see men interested in getting beauty treatments done and investing in their skincare. So, we wanted to create a space that is comfortable for men too. We wanted to change the game in that respect.”
“I set up Holmes of Beauty Academy last year with fully accredited beauty courses that I wrote myself. All our courses are accredited by ABT—the Academy of Beauty Training—which guarantees that all our staff are also insured. Holmes of Beauty Academy gives me the power to train all my staff in the way that I like to do beauty services and ensure that they are fully accredited. Our courses are open to the public and caters to everyone from complete beginners to people who have already completed their Level 2 in beauty therapy but would like to learn extra things that their college doesn’t teach.”
"Vagaro has helped us progress our business in many ways. We can easily run reports daily, weekly, and monthly. We can tailor each report to see which clients are our biggest spenders and what they are spending on, as well as view our employees to find out what treatments they're doing the most, how much they're earning and how much commission they’re making. When we can see that an employee isn't fully booked that week, we can then send out a marketing email with a special offer. We also use Vagaro’s Daily Deals feature which is great for giving a quiet day or week a boost by sharing an offer online to get clients booked in quickly.”
“At Holmes of Beauty, we use forms for many of our treatments so that if anything happens, like an insurance claim, we have everything documented. I think, especially for our aesthetic clinic, it's important to have all our customer medical details on Vagaro. We also take pictures of customers before and after their treatments, as well as adding to the note section of their client record if there are any changes to the medication or their skin.”
“The PayPro at reception is great for a seamless checkout. Clients can come and book their appointments there, and our staff can easily take payments before checking them out. Vagaro salon software is easy to use, and everything is straightforward. We also use Vagaro to track our inventory for the products we use and the products we sell as well. I have recently gone part-time and I'm not in the salon as much anymore, so Vagaro keeps me in the loop and helps me keep an eye on things, which is great.”
