Black History Month isn’t just a date on the calendar—it’s a call to honor, reflect, and amplify Black voices, stories, and contributions. Over time, we’ve created a collection of articles, guides, and resources covering everything from Black entrepreneurs shaping the beauty and wellness industry to the history behind cultural beauty practices.

This year, we’re bringing it all together in one place. Whether you're looking for inspiration, education, or ways to support Black-owned businesses, we hope this database is a helpful resource for you to do so.

Let’s dive in, explore, and celebrate.

5 Ways Your Business Can Support Black History Month

Black History Month is a time to honor the historic achievements, resilience, and contributions of Black individuals throughout history. Whether you're a business owner, entrepreneur, or consumer, there are also tangible ways to uplift Black culture and support Black-owned businesses, not just in February, but year-round. From getting listed as a Black-owned business on Google, to ensuring your services are inclusive & representative, or to partnering with Black entrepreneurs, this article explores five impactful ways to make a difference. Above all, the best way to support Black culture is to educate yourself on its rich history so you can truly celebrate it!

Black Representation and Professional Realities in the Arts

At Vagaro, we highlight the impact of Black creatives both within our team and beyond. In the following feature, you’ll meet Romey Stingley, a graphic designer whose artistic expression extends beyond work, and Piankhi Williams, a technical support leader whose lifelong passion for music and design has shaped his creative identity. Their stories underscore the undeniable influence of Black culture in the arts—and also highlight the ongoing need for genuine representation and support.

As we celebrate Black creatives, it's essential to foster environments where their contributions are not only recognized, but truly valued, celebrated, and amplified. Romey poignantly reflects, “Black professionals can sometimes feel invisible in their organizations, because in some cases, they effectively are. Make sure contributions don’t go unremarked upon. Don’t let achievements go unrecognized. When decisions are being made, ask yourself if the discussion would benefit from different voices. Be open to hearing how you’ve fallen short and make changes. It won’t always be comfortable, but it will go a long way.” Learn more about Romey’s and Piankhi’s stories.

Another important perspective for fellow Black professionals comes from Vagaro’s very own Social Video Producer, Kevon Thompson, “You belong in so many more places than you’ve been exposed to, and you have such a unique perspective to offer. Never take a ‘no’ as an ‘L,’ [instead take it] as the first letter of ‘learning.’” Check out our LinkedIn feature on his journey to hear his thoughts on what Black History Month and Black culture mean to him.

Embracing Diversity: A Progressive Leap in Hair & Skincare

This article peels back the layers of New York’s passage of Bill S6528A, which marked a major step in the ongoing initiative toward inclusivity in cosmetology education, requiring training on all hair textures and skin tones. Traditional beauty education has long favored Eurocentric standards, leaving many professionals unprepared to serve diverse clients. This bill helps break down barriers, champion equal opportunity, and create a more inclusive industry.

A recent Vagaro community poll of beauty professionals found:

  • 51% received training on textured hair.

  • 77% were trained to care for diverse skin tones.

  • 97% believe diverse education should be a nationwide requirement.

While this legislation and similar bills that have passed in other states since then, are steps forward, true change requires ongoing commitment to diversity and inclusion in beauty. Be sure to check out the full article for an in-depth look. .

Let’s Build a More Inclusive Future, Together

As Black History Month reminds us of the resilience, brilliance, and contributions of Black individuals, it also calls us to action. Recognition is just the beginning— but true support means uplifting Black voices, advocating for inclusivity, and creating meaningful opportunities year-round.

At Vagaro, we believe in fostering a beauty and wellness industry where every professional, client, and creative feels seen, valued, and empowered. Whether it’s through education, representation, or economic support, we all have a role to play in shaping a more equitable future.

Let’s continue to learn, celebrate, and stand together—not just in February, but every day.
